The Enduring (END) Aspect
The meaning of the Qohenje "Enduring" (END) aspect is that the criterial attributes of the lexeme in question are deemed to be lasting beyond their expected or natural duration. The exact entailment of this depends upon the core semantics of the lexeme, and the context.
The END aspect is the "aberrant" counterpart of the COM aspect (q.v).
With Abstract (AB) verbals, the most common implication is simply of an unusually persistant condition or relation, which entails (mild) surprise or incomprehension:
Other AB examples bring out the context dependency:
With inanimate (IN) lexemes, the implication tends to be one of (positive) endurance or surprising resistance, most commonly positively evaluated:
The most common translation for "old", "ancient" or "antique" is a rendition in the END aspect.
Animate (AN) lexemes in the END aspect mostly have implications of survival despite having the odds against them. A straight reference to , for instance implies that by all rights, the soldier in question should already be dead (or decomissioned - see the discussion on the COM aspect.).
